Beddoes is safely through to the third round, after a straight games win over Kuwait's Yousef Saleh. The 17-year-old kiwi justified his top 32 seeding with a commanding 11-6, 13-11, 11-6 victory. Beddoes will take on sixth seeded Indian Aditya Jagtap for a place in the last 16 tomorrow.

However, New Zealand team-mates Paul Coll, Michael Sunderland and Bryce Redman have all bowed out of the tournament. Coll lost his second round match against French third seed Lucas Serme 11-4, 11-3, 11-8, while Sunderland was also beaten in straight games in his second round match against top 16 seed Farhan Zaman from Pakistan.

Redman had earlier lost his opening round clash against Canada's Arjun Gupta 3-0.
