Players at this level will be competing on the two professional world circuits - WSA (Women's Squash Association) and PSA (Professional Squash Association, for men) - and this group will set the standards for squash in New Zealand. Selected players will have access to support from Squash NZ. They will be on individualised player contracts that describe the agreed commitments of each party.
The criteria for this level will be those players who are on the PSA and WSA World Tours and deemed to have the ability to help Squash NZ achieve its High Performance objectives. Our expectation is that the professional players will play in at least eight to ten PSA or WSA tournaments each year.
Individual contracts will, where possible, take into account the high cost of competing on the world circuits, and Squash NZ will assist players to attain as high a level of performance as possible.
Players will be expected either to join in with the National Training Programme in Auckland when they are back in New Zealand or work with the High Performance Coach on a basis that is suitable for both the player and the High Performance Coach (this can therefore be done in their Districts without the need to move to Auckland). This will ensure that the personal programme they are following reaches the standards required by the Squash New Zealand High Performance Programme. National Squad members will also be expected to be available for national selection to represent New Zealand.
