King Bows out of World Champs

A surprise defeat for New Zealand's Joelle King in the quarterfinals of the Women's World Champs.

The fifth seeded Kiwi has gone down in four games to unseeded Egyptian Nour El Sherbini, beaten 11-9, 8-11, 13-11, 11-6.

It is the second major scalp in a row for Sherbini, who also upset English world number four Alison Waters in round two. At 18 years of age, the world junior champion is the youngest ever player to make the semifinals of the Women's World Champs.Matamata Open 2012 finalists

However, Sherbini faces a tough task to make it through to the final, taking on world number one Nicol David in the last four.  David squeezed into the semis with a tough five game win over France's Camille Serme.

Meanwhile, second seed Laura Massaro and third seed Raneem El Welily are also through to the last four, after both survived tough five game encounters.
