Kiwis on Song in Hong Kong

The sizeable Kiwi contingent at the World Masters Champs in Hong Kong has produced some strong results so far.

With almost all of the 18 age groups represented by at least one New Zealand player, the Kiwi presence in Hong Kong is a strong one.  The contingent is dressed in distinctive black polos adorned by 'Ole Blacks', making the players instantly recognisable.2012 World Masters Opening Ceremony

After the first three days of competition, there are nine New Zealanders still alive in the Round of 16 or better.  Tristan Franklin (M40) and Mark Waldin (M55) have each won three matches to sit in the Round of 16 stage of the event.  Wayne Seebeck and Phil Tough (both M60) also made it to the Round of 16, but have since been eliminated.

New Zealanders to have won through to the quarter-finals already include George Crosby (M35), Lisa Cowlard and Becky Clarke (W40), Kathryn McKay (W50), Freda Walker (W60), Ron Crosby (M65) and Barry Gardiner (M75).

Full draws and results are available at the event website.  Good luck Kiwis!
