Quarters for King, Grayson in Glasgow

Quarter-finalists are decided on day two of the squash competition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

New Zealand world number four Joelle King has progressed to the quarter-finals of the women's singles squash by beating Indian twelfth seed Joshana Chinappa 11-3 11-8 8-11 11-5.  The win earns her a quarter-final match-up with Irish seventh seed Madeline Perry tomorrow on the all-glass court.  The match will be played at 11.30pm NZT.Joelle King CWG

New Zealand number two Megan Craig was overpowered by world number one and defending champion Nicol David, but earned respectability in her 7-11 6-11 5-11 loss on the glass court.  Her Round of 16 performance a credible achievement in her first Commonwealth Games.

The men's Round of 16 match-ups saw twelfth seed Campbell Grayson advance to the first Commonwealth Games singles quarter-final of his career.  Grayson eased past surprise opening day winner Kelvin Ndhlovu 11-4 11-6 11-4, and will now play Indian fourth seed Saurav Ghosal for a place in the semis.

Martin Knight was beaten by second seed and world number six James Willtstrop, but put up a strong fight in an eventual 5-11 5-11 5-11 scoreline.
