Kiwis Squash Kiwis in Glasgow

A surprise result in the men's doubles has seen Paul Coll and Lance Beddoes progress to the quarter-finals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Up against their more experienced and fancied countrymen Campbell Grayson and Martin Knight in the Round of 16, Coll and Beddoes pulled off an 11-7 11-10 upset to move through to the quarter-finals.  They will square off against English second seeds James Willstrop and Daryl Selby for a place in the semis.

In the women's doubles, New Zealand's last remaining combination was beaten at quarter-final stage by Indian duo Dipika Pallikal and Joshana Chinappa, meaning there will be no repeat of Delhi's 'Golden Girls'.

Better news in the mixed doubles, where Joelle King and Martin Knight comfortably moved past their Malaysian opponents to set up a quarter-final against Indian pair Joshana Chinappa and Harinder-Pal Sandhu.  Amanda Landers-Murphy and Paul Coll also won their way out of the Round of 16 by beating their tough Scottish opposition, and will now play defending gold medalists Kasey Brown and Cameron Pilley of Australia in the quarter-finals.
