Secondary Schools Champs Results from Nelson

The first round results from the Secondary Schools Nationals in Nelson are in.

Waikato school St Paul's has caused the upset of the opening round of the Secondary Schools National Championships in Nelson.  The 21st seeds have taken out twelfth seeds Marlborough in a nailbiting tie 3-2 to progress to the second round.

Elsewhere the seeds have been untroubled, with many of the top teams having byes to the second round.  The tie of the round in the Girls' draw took place between eighth seeds Christchurch Girls' High School and ninth seeds Wairarapa.  The tie went to seeding with Christchurch progressing 3/2, but not without some difficulty and drama.
