Lessons learned by Kiwis in Namibia

Day two of the World Junior Championships in Namibia has seen more close losses for the boys in the Kiwi team.

Scott Galloway's run through the World Junior Men's Championship draw has been halted by MScott Galloway NZJO 2014alaysian player Darren Chan Ti Luun in three sets: 11-7 11-6 11-8 (28 minutes).  Galloway will now move to the Special Plate draw, where we will come up against Derek Hsue of the United States tomorrow (NZT).

In the plate competition Chapman Kutia was beaten by his English opponent James Peach in four close games: 7-11 11-7 11-7 11-7 (33 minutes), while Max Trimble went down to Azlan Amjad of Qatar 11-8 11-1 11-6 (20 minutes).  They next play on Thursday (NZT) in the consolation plate.  Kutia will come up against South African Aubrey Lawrence, with Trimble to play Namibian George Diederik Bekker.

Luke Jones received a bye in the first round of the plate, and will play tomorrow against the winner of Daniel Poleshchuk (Israel) and Oisin Logan (Ireland).

In the main draw, top seeded Peruvian Diego Elias remains on track to become the first South American World squash Champion, not having dropped a set so far on his path to the Round of 16.  The same cannot be seed of second-seeded Egypitan Karim El Hammamy, defeated by compatriot Youssef Aboul-Makarim in the third round.  Live streaming of some matches is available here: http://www.wjsc2014.com/live/.
