Day three results from Namibia

Day three results from the World Junior Championships are in, with Scott Galloway and Luke Jones in action.

Galloway was up against American Derek Hsue in the special plate, and took the first game to get off to a good start.  Hsue then fought back to take the next three games in a close affair, to seal the match 4-11 11-8 12-10 11-9 in 40 minutes.NZ team at TTJ

Luke Jones was in action in the plate draw, up against tournament fifth seed Daniel Poleshchuk (Israel).  Jones, too, fought hard and took a game from his higher ranked opponent, but eventually went down 11-7 6-11 12-10 11-4.

Chapman Kutia and Max Trimble both had byes in the consolation plate, and will be back in action tomorrow.

There were no upsets in the main draws, with top seed Diego Elias continuing his clinical run through the draw the make the quarter-finals with another 3/0 win.  In the junior women's draw, top seeded Egyptian Nour El Sherbini remains comfortably on track for a scarcely believable third World Junior Championship title.

From the horse's mouth

The boys are doing facebook updates from the Championships (www.fb.com/SquashNZ) when internet access allows, check out the latest news:

Another tough day at the office with Scott Galloway going down in 4 to USA opponent 4/11 11/7 12/10 11/9 and Luke Jones giving his Israelis opponent and world #5 a run for his money after losing in tight sets 11/7 6/11 12/10 11/6. On the other half of the draw, Max Trimble and Hapemana both experience their first international bye and advance to the next stages of the World Junior cup.

Non-related to squash: Paul Hornsby missed the shuttle bus after quoting "don't you dare let the shuttle bus leave without me in it."

To finish the day the boys had a nice cold ice swim to relax their muscles and recover for the next few days.
