Preparations ramp up for Superchamps

Superchamps National Finals are approaching, and teams from all around the country are training and fundraising hard.

Always one of Squash New Zealand's most popular events on the calendar, Superchamps once again enticed big numbers of players from around the country to dust off their rackets and try their luck for national glory.  262 teams entered the various District Finals, with 89 travelling to the Nationals next month.  The most popular grade was C Grade, with a combined 87 teams entering (men and women) around the country - followed by D Grade with 59 teams.  As usual, the District Eliminations threw up some cracking competition and uSuperchamps logo websitenexpected results.

Devoy Squash & Fitness Centre led the way as a club, with an astonishing six titles - a result that is sure to have the other Bay of Plenty clubs plotting revenge over summer.  Havelock North were nearly as dominant in the Eastern competition, with four titles.  In Wellington, Wairarapa clubs compiled the impressive record of winning six of the eight titles played for, meaning Masterton, Red Star and Martinborough will all be represented at the National Finals.

The C Grade women's National Finals promise to be a cosmopolitan affair, with teams hailing from as far afield as Kaitaia, Oamaru, Kaikoura, Warkworth and Masterton.

Club Referee Test

A reminder that all players travelling to the Superchamps National Finals need to have passed the Club Referee Test - any matches played by players who haven't passed the test will count as 0/3 losses (with grading points lost too).  The test can be found here.
