Canterbury win Masters teams event

Canterbury has taken out the National Masters Inter District Teams Event for the first time since 2009.

Canterbury eased past an injury-stricken Auckland side who were without Craig Stratford and Mark Waldin, scuppered by hamstring and calf injuries respectively.  The final 6-4 scoreline sealed the Christchurch Cup for the Cantabs for the tenth time in the event's history, and the first time since 2009.Masters programme

Across the other final ties Southland were too good for BOP, winning 6/4 to finish in third position.  Waikato defeated Wellington 6/4 to finish fifth, while Central continued the trend of 6/4 scorelines to beat Northland and finish up in seventh place.

Later in the evening, Auckland made up for the disappointment of losing the final by winning the highly sought-after toilet seat trophy as winners of the skit night.
