Devoy Snags Commonwealth Games StarDevoy SF Logo

Multi award winning Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre has landed another coup by securing the services of Commonwealth Games star Kylie Lindsay who has been appointed to lead squash development at the Club.

Kylie returns to New Zealand after a distinguished professional playing career which has included two Commonwealth Games, and a career-high world ranking of #34.  Along with a distinguished squash career, Kylie has a Degree in Marketing & Sport Business Management.

Kylie will oversee the Club’s squash development programmes which includes delivering grassroots, competitive player, and coach development opportunities; as well as managing the Club’s school and holiday programmes; expanding on the current individual and small group skill based sessions; and implementing new activities for the Club’s community user base.

“There are a number of new initiatives in the pipeline which will have a positive impact on our ability to deliver quality squash and fitness programmes”, said Club President Char Niles.  “Having a sporting legend like world champion Dame Susan Devoy already providing valuable guidance, and now Kylie joining the team, makes for exciting times ahead for the Club.  The Club has experienced significant growth over the past three years since opening in the new facility.  The delivery of programmes is fundamental to attract new participants to the sport, retain our current members, and provide opportunities for community users.  This appointment signals our continued commitment to our members as well as future growth and development of the game of squash”.

Kylie is looking forward to the challenge.  “It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.  I’m extremely passionate about the game, and I am very excited about the possibilities this role allows.  I see a huge potential to grow the game and develop the players skills, and I can’t wait to get out amongst the members and community to make a positive contribution”.

Kylie in her role as Squash Development Co-ordinator becomes another important piece in making Devoy Squash & Fitness Centre “the leader in community sports”.   Last year the Club won the coveted Bay of Plenty Club of the Year award.
