Day 1 at NZ Junior Open

With the first day of the NZ Junior Open coming to a close all is going to plan in the Girls Open with one upset, however the Boys Open finishes the day on a different note.  

Round 1 in the Girls Open appeared as if it was all going to go to plan until 26th seed Holly Keen O'leary from the Waikato managed to take a nail biting win from 7th seed Jordan Russel from Australia, with the 5th game going long. 

All other players in the Girls Open managed to keep to their seeding with some nail biting 5 setters along the way. The second round was less eventful with all players winning in 3 or 4.

The Boys Open didn't see any major upsets this morning in Round 1 with all seeds wining comfortably, however there have been a few players upset this afternoon by their lower seeds. 5th seed Max Trimble didn't have enough steam for the Australian Jon Van Der Kreek who managed to adjust to the cool temperatures of Timaru to take Max out in 4. Finn Trimble however managed to keep the Trimble families hopes alive by taking out Chapman Kutia in 3.  

Games resume at 8:40am tomorrow with Open games for both divisions starting at 12pm. There is sure to be more excitement on court.
