World Record Attempt Successful!

World Record Squash Attempt

Cild Cancer Guinness Attempt

Auckland father and son  duo Brett and James Meyer have set a new world record for the longest squash marathon, beating the previous time by nearly three hours to bring the record back to New Zealand.

James Meyer and his father Brett started playing squash at 5am on Saturday and completed their effort Sunday evening, spending a total of 36 hours, 2 minutes and 6 seconds on the court, beating the previous record of 33 hours and 8 minutes.

The official Guiness World Record attempt was closely monitored and the Meyers were only allowed a series of 5-minute breaks.

The pair set an original record of 25 hours and 55 minutes in 2008, but that record had since been beaten by other teams around the world.

The Kiwi pair were using the opportunity to raise money for the Child Cancer Foundation and had so far raised more than $18,000.

More information can be found on Facebook as well as a link to the Child Cancer sponsor page. Any donations no matter how big or small go directly to the Child Cancer Society and is most welcomed.
