Day 2 Results at Oceania Junior ChampsReffing Resized

The finals are set and there is sure to be some great games to be had tomorrow. But Day 2 was not without its upsets and its moments of excitement as well.

The Boys Under 19 went to seed today with those causing some upsets on the first day not able to carry on with them on the second day. There was however some excitement on court when Joseph Williams managed to hit his opponent Solayman Nowrozi in the face with his racket resulting in a contributed injury Solayman was off to get fixed up whilst the match was put on hold. Solayman however came back with a vengence and managed to make swift work of Williams.

The Boys Under 19 final will see an all Australian contingent with Sam Ejtemai making light work of Scott Galloway from New Zealand. Solayman Nowrozi was put to the test however with Luke Jones gaining a two game lead but that didn't stop Nowrozi and he managed to pull back an epic win to come through to make the finals.

In the Girls Under 19 Ellie Epke was put to the test by Anna Hughes making Epke work tough to get the win this morning. The game of this round went to Juee Bhide who courageously battled through a serious injury that hampered her mobility around the court against opponent Victoria Leow. Bhide never gave up despite the obvious pain eventually going down 9/11 in the fifth receiving a huge ovation from the crowd who appreciated her grit and determination. The other seeds had relatively comfortable roads to the semis.

The Girls Under 19 semis were a New Zealand vs Australia line up on both sides. With the home crowd cheering for an all kiwi final Lakeesha Rarere put an end to that and sent Abbie Palmer to the 3/4 playoff. Ellie Epke however made sure to have a kiwi representative in the final making light work of Australian Victoria Leow even if there was a battle in the 3rd game. Rarere will be looking to take out Epke losing to her twice in the past week.

The Boys Under 17 saw all but one Australian contender knocked out earlier this morning. With Will Curtis the only Australian left it was clear he would want to keep the Aussie spirit strong, however Quinn Udy made sure that wouldn't be happening and in an epic five setter an all kiwi final was set up.

The Girls Under 17 saw the shock loss of the Australian contender Lauren Aspinall fist thing this morning. Aspinall was seeded second but Zoe Dykzeul proved too strong for Aspinall and sent her packing. Dykzeul kept her winning streak up this afternoon and has secured a place in the final with first seed Nadia Hubbard.

The Boys Under 15 will also see an all kiwi final with Matthew Lucente managing to remove Maaz Khatri from the competition and Gabe Yam removing Jacob Ford. The kiwis will take out first and second and the Aussies third in tomorrows battles.

This Girls Under 15 has been a kiwi battle all along and there were no upsets to be had here in the seedings. Ruby Turnbull and Anika Jackson will battle it out for the Oceania glory tomorrow.

The Boys Under 13 has also gone to seed and will follow a very similar format to that of the Under 15 Boys. With Elijah Thomas and Leo Fatialofa taking out Ethan Stephenson and Remi Young respectively the home crowd will sure be interested in this final.

The Under 13 girls has seen a significant upset with both the first and second seeds not making the final. Ariata Kutia took out first seed Georgia Fyfe in an epic five setter. The other semi final was not going to be any different with Dileesia Henare taking out Ruby Saies in another epic five setter.

The Boys Under 11 Boys sees the Fatialofa name again with a win over Australian Dylan Classen. Club mate Mason Smales will also be present in the final taking out Tom Marshall.

The Girls Under 11 will see Natalie Sayes and Diana Galloway looking to try and take out the Oceania title. With Natalie already having an Australian Junior Open title she will be sure to be wanting to add another piece of silverware to the mantlepiece.

Games start at 9am at both Stadium Southland and Squash City Invercargill. Finals for the Boys Under 19 and Girls Under 19 will be at 2:20pm.
