Oceania Champions Crowned 2015Boys U19

The 2015 Oceania Junior Champs have been crowned. Many of the second seeds have managed to tip over their higher seeded players.

In the Girls Under 19 second seed Lakeesha Rarere from Australia has managed to get the win she has been looking for over the past 2 weeks against first seed Ellie Epke from New Zealand. Rarere had a comfortable win over Epke in the end with Epke just not being able to match Rarere's pace and intensity.

In the Boys Under 19 second seed Solayman Nowrozi got a win over fellow Australian Sam Ejtemai however it may not have been the way he wished it to happen. Ejtemai had to default after injuring himself in the second game. Nowrozi got the first 2 games which went right down to the wire. The first game alone was a mammoth 23minutes with the players matching each other point for point.

In the Boys Under 17 Jamie Oakley secured a win over fifth seed Quinn Udy with Udy just not being able to find the shots to get up. The Girls Under 17 saw a similar sequence of events with Nadia Hubbard managing to take out seventh seed Zoe Dykzeul.

The Boys Under 15 saw Matthew Lucente managing to take the title from fellow club member Gabe Yam. The Girls Under 15 saw the second seed Anika Jackson battle out to take the win from first seed Ruby Turnbull. Turnbull had the chances in the fourth holding a couple of match balls however she was not able to take the win from Jackson.

The Under 13 Boys saw Elijah Thomas miss out on another title with Leo Fatialofa taking the win in three. With the Under 13 Girls having had the first and second seeds knocked off their perch the day before it was anyones game. Fifth seed Ariata Kutia showed she wanted the title for her mantlepiece taking out Dileesia Henare in a swift three.

The Boys Under 11 saw club mates Mason Smales and Apa Fatialofa fighting it out for the title. Smales managed to show his strength over Fatialofa and grabbed the win in 4. The Girls Under 11 saw Natalie Sayes add another title to her ever growing collection managing to get the win from Diana Galloway in 3.

The team at Squash City did an awesome job over the weekend and we are sure everyone will have appreciated their hospitality. This is a true credit to Grant Smail and his team of volunteers which includes Simon and Karyn Flett who worked hard throughout the week leading up to the Oceania Champs and the Trans Tasman test.
