NZ International Classic Champions CrownedWSA Final Resized

Chan claims the Women's title whilst Adnan claims the Men's title after some long and hard games all weekend.

The first final of the day was in the Womens Draw between WR 37 Misaki Kobayashi of Japan and WR 27 Joey Chan of Hong Kong. Kobayashi had come off a tough win the previous day with a five setter against New Zealander Amanda Landers-Murphy. However Kobayashi showed early on that she was not going to let the match go easily and came out firing. Kobayashi winning the first game easily with Chan making a numebr of unforced errors. Chan however came back on in the second and showed that she wasn't going down without a fight. With both players having to fight hard in the second Kobayashi showing she had the goods to win the second. However in the third a number of unforced errors from Kobayashi let Chan have the win quite easily. Chan then showed her strength again in the fourth with a valiant fight from Kobayashi but it was not enough to get the fourth game. It was all going to come down to the fifth game and both players wanted to make sure they took home the title. However a phone call home was not enough for Kobayashi to find the win and Chan managed to claim the title over her opponent in a valiant game.

The final match of the day was between WR 35 Nafiizwan Adnan of Malaysia and WR 67 Declan James of England. The first game was a tight battle between both players and they went point for point. Adnan however managed to creep ahead with the referees not allowing the players to get any cheap lets and he took the first game. The second game was a strong game of length and rallies, with James just managing to make fewer errors than his Malaysian counterpart. Nafiizwaan came out firing in the third and James was battling to match the Malaysian on the court and with a number of errors Nafiizwaan came out and won the match convincingly. The fourth was make or break for both players, however Nafiizwaan was able to take the lead and never looked back winning in 4.

The next PSA event to be held will be in Christchurch next week and there is expected to be some great matches like this week.
