King and Coll through to Quarterfinals of Australian OpenAustralian Open

New Zealand's Joelle King and Paul Coll are both through to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Second seeded King, who is slowly getting back to her best after recovering from a ruptured achilles tendon, recovered from a slow start to beat Australian Christine Nunn in four, bouncing back from a game down to win 1-11, 11-5, 11-1, 11-1.

The former world number four will take on eighth seeded Aussie Donna Urquhart for a place in the final tomorrow.

King is the last Kiwi standing in the women's draw, after Amanda Landers-Murphy and Megan Craig bowed out.

10th seeded Landers Murphy gave Danish fifth seed Line Hansen a run for her money, before going down 11-13, 11-9, 11-9, 13-11, while 12th seeded Craig lost 5-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-8 to sixth seeded Joshana Chinappa from India.

Meanwhile, Coll will continue to fly the flag in the men's draw, after an upset win over Scottish seventh seed Greg Lobban in the quarters.

The unseeded Kiwi proved too good for his higher ranked opponent, winning 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 in 41 minutes.

Evan Williams missed out on joining him in the last four, after going down 8-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-1 to 8th seeded Aussie Rex Hedrick.
