2015 National Forum, Awards and AGM conclude

The 2015 edition of the National Forum, Awards and Annual General Meeting have concluded for another year.

On Friday 27 November Squash New Zealand Board members and staff spent time with representatives from the 11 District Associations to hear the issues and challenges facing the grass roots of the game. The day offered a valuable opportunity to engage and work closer together to help the game we are all so passionate about, with the key themes from the meeting including: improving communication and collaboration; membership and participation rates; club health; and the national tournament schedule and the grading system.

National Award Winners Crowned

On Friday evening Squash New Zealand's Annual National Awards were held at the Jet Park Hotel and Conference Centre in Auckland.  The result was a night to remember with 60 attendees watching on as the sport's highest achievers of 2015 were honoured.  Master of Ceremonies Phil Buscke-Sommerville interviewed each of the winners to find out more about their love of the game, and achievements over the last 12 months.

The Award winners were:

Club of the Year: Ohakune (Central)
New Coach of the Year: Keri Rhodes (Northland)
Club/School Coach of the Year: Manu Yam (Auckland)
Performance Coach of the Year: Mike Allred (Canterbury)
Volunteer of the Year: Don McDonald (Otago)
Chairman's Award: Kashif Shuja (Central)
Personality of the Year: Paul Coll (Canterbury)

Annual General Meeting (and Report)

The Saturday morning Annual General Meeting confirmed Gareth Fleming (Wellington) and Fran Hopkins' (Waikato) election to the executive board of Squash New Zealand, following Matt Taylor (Auckland) and Dayne Far (Wellington) standing down.

During the new board's first meeting Greg McKeown (Auckland) was elected as Chair.
