Majority of SNZ Board Return With New ChairGreg McKeown small

After a successful term as president of Squash Waikato, Fran Hopkins has joined the Squash New Zealand Board, and Greg McKeown has been elected as the new chair.

Greg has been a member of the Board since 2013 and has had a close involvement with the development of Squash on the Move, the new 2016-2021 Squash New Zealand strategic plan. Previously Greg has been president of Harcourts Eden Epsom Squash Club in Auckland and an Auckland City Councillor, and has good experience in business management and governance roles.

At the recent National Forum and AGM there was a strong accord between Squash New Zealand and the districts about key goals set in the strategic plan, which include increased participation at club level and international success. “The forum provided us with a clear message and support to take some new initiatives, and the Board are up for that,” Greg said. “We’ve started with some early success in the commercial space, with Aon coming on board as a key partner for squash. It’s certainly not the only thing that counts, but taking a commercial and unified approach will help us achieve, in the long term, our goals on court,” he said.

Long serving board member Tony Johnston did not stand for chair and is joining the High Performance Advisory Panel. The forthcoming year will be Tony’s seventh on the board and he continues to provide experience and continuity across the full scope of board functions. The Commercial sub-committee will be led by Steve Dunbar and Audit and Risk by Gareth Fleming.

The full board is Steve Dunbar, Gareth Fleming, Fran Hopkins, Tony Johnston, Linda Kenny and Greg McKeown (Chair).
