AON NZ Junior Open Draws Top Players Abbie & Jamie - Wellington

The AON NZ Junior Open will see over 180 junior players grace the Whangarei and Kamo Squash Clubs this weekend the 22nd-24th April. With this being the second selection event for the World Junior Boys Team it is sure to have some great match ups.

Jamie Oakley and Abbie Palmer (pictured above) are both seeded to take the top accolades having won the Wellington Junior Open titles two weekends ago (8th-10th April).

Jamie Oakley from the Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre in Tauranga will have to get past a number of his fellow Elite Junior Boys Squad members to get to the final where, should everything go to seeding, he is due to face Scott Galloway of the Mitchell Park club in Wellington. Alex Oswald of Australia will be looking to claim the boys title and take it back across the ditch after having placed fourth in the Australian Junior Open over Easter. Matthew Lucente of the Belmont Park club in Auckland rounds out the top 4.

Abbie Palmer of the North Shore Squash Club in Auckland will be looking to add her name to the girl’s trophy for a second time. Palmer hailing from Waipu has spent time on the Whangarei Squash Club Courts so will be looking to use this to her advantage when game time comes. Anna Hughes of Harcourts Eden Epsom in Auckland is seeded to meet Palmer in the final, but should all go to plan she will have to get past Kaitlyn Watts of SquashGym Palmerston North in the semi-finals whilst Palmer is due to face Hamilton Squash and Tennis Club’s Anika Jackson in the semi-finals.

We wish all the players the best of luck over the weekend. Games start at midday on Friday the 22nd April and run through to Sunday afternoon with the Girls Open finals scheduled for 2pm and the Boys Open finals scheduled for 3pm.

All draws can be found on the Whangarei Squash Club website here
