NZ Doubles Championships Draws Set

Some of New Zealand’s top players will be set to take to the court this weekend in the New Zealand Doubles Championships. This weekend will be used as one of the selection events for the World Doubles team to travel to Darwin in August along with developing the players to this unique format of squash.
The top seeds in the Men’s Doubles are Evan Williams and Lance Beddoes, they will have to fight off second seeds Ben Grindrod and Chris Van Der Salm. Beddoes is well versed in the pressures of Doubles having competed with Paul Coll in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games where they reached the Quarter Finals. This will be the first time these players have paired up in these particular combinations so they will be looking to prove their worth.
Top seed in the Women’s draw is Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy. King has great doubles experience and also boast 2 Commonwealth medals from the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games. King and Lander-Murphy paired up in Glasgow in 2014 where they lost out in the Quarter finals. They will have to get past second seeds Megan Craig and Shelley Kitchen to claim the title this weekend with both players having doubles experience and Kitchen having a number of medals to her name.
In the mixed doubles Evan Williams and Joelle King are top seeds with Lance Beddoes and Amanda-Landers-Murphy taking out second seeds. Ben Grindrod and Megan Craig are third seeds whilst Scott Galloway and Shelley Kitchen round out the top four. All four seeds will be looking to prove their worth and make sure they try and claim this title.
