The Squash New Zealand team to compete at the 2016 Mens World Junior Individual and Teams Championship in Poland from the 6th - 17th August has been announced. The team is Jamie Oakley, Scott Galloway, Sam Sayes and Finn Trimble with Matthew Lucente named as the Non-Travelling reserve.

The players have been members of the SNZ Elite Junior Boys training squad and have all competed in three selection events (AON New Zealand Junior Open, Wellington Junior Open and the Waikato PSA & Open).

Jamie Oakley, from the Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre in Tauranga and Susan Devoy’s youngest son, has had an exceptional 12 months winning the North Island Junior Age Group U19 title along with the Junior National Age Group U19 title. Oakley continued this success early this year claiming the AON New Zealand Junior Open title and the Wellington Junior Open title. He also made the main draw of the Waikato PSA and the Quarter Finals of the Tauranga PSA defeating Kashif Shuja with a world ranking of 155.

Scott Galloway from the Mitchell Park club in Wellington will be attending the World Junior Championships for the second time. He competed at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Namibia where he reached the top 64. Galloway will be looking to improve on this performance in 2016. His consistency in making the main draws in the Waikato PSA and the Tauranga PSA along with runner-up finishes at the AON New Zealand Junior Open and the Wellington Junior Open has been the highlight this season.

Sam Sayes from the Remuera Rackets Club in Auckland has put in very good performances at the selection events claiming a 5th in the AON New Zealand Junior Open and 3rd in the Wellington Junior Open. Sayes performed well in the qualifying draws for both the Waikato PSA and the Tauranga PSA.

Finn Trimble from the Whangarei Squash Club in Northland emulates the feat of his brother Max in representing NZ at the World Junior Championships. Finn has competed very well in the qualifying rounds of the Waikato PSA and the Tauranga PSA whilst also achieving a 3rd in the AON New Zealand Junior Open and 4th in the Wellington Junior Open.

Matthew Lucente from the Belmont Park Rackets Club in Auckland is the non-travelling reserve.

The team will be coached and managed by Paul Hornsby who will be taking away his third World Junior Boys Team. We wish the team well in their preparation and every success for the event.
