The Men’s and Women’s Semi-Finalists have been found at the Marlborough Squash Rackets Club, with all games being straight forward. Whilst the games were straight forward it was a day for the lower seeded players to take the wins.

In the Women’s Open local star Megan Craig took a straight forward win over her opponent Leigh Rodd. Fifth seed and local player Kiriana Andrew came out strong against fourth seed Dorothy Bryce to seal her place in the semi-finals with a win in 3. Nikki Kennedy looked strong in her win over Michel Galloway also taking her place in the Semi-Final with a win in three. Erin Ellery started off looking strong in her match but unfortunately her opponent Christine Palmer had to pull out injured putting Ellery into the Semis.

In the Men’s Open top seed Oliver Johnston looked comfortable in his win over Liam Kennedy with Kennedy not being able to match Johnston’s intensity with Johnston taking the win in three. It was a battle between local players Quinn Udy (fifth seed) and Grant Craig (fourth seed) in the second quarter final. Craig was looking strong in the first game but Udy stepped up the intensity in the second and never looked back claiming the next games in convincing style with Udy eventually claiming the match in four. The last upset of the quarter finals came from Michael Blanchard against third seed Neil Rossin. Blanchard looked strong in his game and was managing to put away his shots with Rossin just not able to match the intensity. Blanchard claimed the match in three over Rossin. The final match of the Quarter Finals saw Megan Craig step on court for a second time and she was playing John Van Velzen. Craig didn’t want to spend too much time on court and this came through in her game. Craig took the first game in convincing style and whilst Van Velzen fought back in the second and third it wasn’t enough and Craig claimed the match in three and her second spot in the Semi-Finals.

The Women’s Open Semi-Final will see a full Marlborough affair whilst the Men’s Open will see Megan Craig and Quinn Udy trying to make their way to the final whilst out of towners Oliver Johnston and Michael Blanchard will be trying to take the titles home.

Semi-Finals games start at 3:20pm at the Marlborough Squash Rackets Club.
