Round One Qualifying Results at NZ International Squash Classic SquashGym PN

Qualifying has started for the Fitzherbert Rowe Lawyers New Zealand International Squash Classic tonight at SquashGym in Palmerston North.

No major upsets were recorded and locals were pleased to see local pro and former number 36 in the world Kashif Shuja through to the second round of qualifying. Shuja now ranked 173 and 36 years of age will be looking to qualify for his home tournament and will face English visitor Ashley Davies tomorrow night with the winner into the first round.

Seven other Kiwi players were trying to progress to round two of qualifying but only Ben Grindrod was successful with the others losing to international opponents.

Round two of qualifying begins at 6.00pm at SquashGym Palmerston North with the winners into the first round of the Main Draw starting at 5pm on Thursday night.
