Jamie Oakley gives us an update on the World Junior Mens teams travel to Poland and their first day on the ground.

Travel: The lads and I departed Auckland airport at 4pm NZT with the dreadful 13 hour flight to Houston followed by another dangerous 9 hours to Frankfurt, where we now await our last flight to Katowice and onto the tournament city of Bielsko-Biala. All of this wasn't without a bit of drama with Finlay Trimble being escorted away at customs for not following legal requirements, 2 hours later Finn was told he would be taking the next flight out tomorrow which wasn't an ideal start to the trip. As we boarded our flight to Frankfurt (Finn showing up in the nick of time), Ellie was greeted by row 93, thirty of the worst rows behind the rest of the team. Sam the team doc supplying the sleeping pills had us all decked out and 9 hours felt like 3.

Day 1: woke nice and early for an 8am breakfast, and a light hit on the courts at Enjoy Squash Club, a very strange and unfinished setup, with the 2 glass courts yet to be complete and 2 normal courts also unfinished. This was followed by a stroll through the streets of Bielsko-Biala, where we ended up eating Italian cuisine once again (minimal options due to language barrier). A Paul Hornsby special (pressure session) took place after this and had all 4 of us just wishing we were in bed being midnight NZ time. Sam Sayes has been known to quote "that is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen" on numerous occasions and it sure won't be the last time he sayes it ??. All in all a great start to the trip.
