Coll Makes Semi-Finals of Canary Wharf Classic

Paul Coll has made his way into the semi-finals of the Canary Wharf Classic after a strong win over the Englishman Daryl Selby.

Coll was out to show that his 117minute marathon in the first round against the German Simon Rosner was not going to impact his performance today and he showed this quickly. In the first game Coll took a strong lead playing great shots and moving well to win the first game 11-7.

In the second game Coll looked devastatingly powerful, with great accuracy Coll forced the errors out of Selby taking a commanding lead and never looking out of place to claim the second game 11-3.

The third game saw Coll being put through his paces and the Englishman worked Coll hard as he played some exceptional shots. Coll was able to keep the intensity throughout this game and match it with the Selby to keep himself in the third after being down near the beginning. The game went long and it looked like the third game could go either way but Coll kept his composure and forced the errors from Selby with some excellent shot making and Coll claimed the third game 12-10 and the match 3-0 in 59 minutes.

Coll said “I’m very happy and relieved to get through the match and to sneak off in three is good to save some energy for tomorrow. Even though the match was half the time it still takes a lot to get up and take out Daryl. I’m extremely happy with how all my years of hard work have paid off and it’s great to have this feeling.”

Paul Coll’s next match will be streamed on Squash TV at 7:30am on Friday 10th March. Sign up to Squash TV here using the promo code NZ50 to receive 50% off your first 3 months.
