NZ Southern PSA and Matamata Open PSA Main Draws Set

The 2017 ILT Community Trust NZ Southern Invercargill Open and 2017 Matamata Open PSA are set to kick off this weekend with many players from around the world seeking to claim these lucrative titles with the NZ Southern Invercargill Open carrying a prize purse of $15K USD and Matamata Open $5K USD.

The Matamata Open sees top seeded Kiwi Amanda Landers-Murphy seeking to claim her second title of these Women’s events after losing out to eventual winner Lisa Aitken in Palmerston North over the weekend. Landers-Murphy will face a qualifier in the first round and has avoided Aitken in her half of the draw. Jess Turnbull of Australia the second seed has not been as fortunate and has drawn Lisa Aitken in the first round and is sure to be put through her paces in her first match. Third seed Sam Foyle of Australia will have a qualifier in the first round whilst fourth seed Andrea Lee of Malaysia will face New Zealander Megan Craig in the first round. Qualification begins on Thursday and matches will be livestreamed here.

The NZ Southern Invercargill Open sees World Ranked 42 Ivan Yuen of Malaysia taking the top seeding and he will be due to face a qualifier in the first round. Rex Hedrick world ranked 57 who was knocked out in the semi-finals of the event in 2016 will be looking to claim the title this weekend with his first-round match also being against a qualifier. Peter Creed of Wales is third seed in the event and faces a qualifier in the first round whilst fourth seed Angus Gillams of England is sure to be put through his paces as he faces the 2016 World Junior Champion Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia in the first round.
