Amanda Lands Another Aussie Title

Another WSA squash title across the Tasman for New Zealand’s Amanda Landers-Murphy.

The top seed has added the Queensland Open to the South Australian crown she won in June although she was made to work for it by third seeded Czech Olga Ertlova, edging home 11-9, 11-6, 8-11, 11-5.

The New Zealander claimed a close first game then won seven points in a row to win the second after being down 6-4.

Ertlova bounced back to win the third as she targeted Landers-Murphy’s backhand, but the lAmanda LM 2011eft-hander from Rotorua dominated the fourth and won the title with her second match point.

“I was just trying to stick to my game plan, I know she was trying to attack my backhand a lot and I was just trying to push up and stop it,” Landers-Murphy said.

“She played some awesome shots in the third and I had to try and change my game up a bit because it just wasn’t working any more.”

Landers-Murphy now heads home to New Zealand to prepare for the World Women’s Teams Championship in France in November.
