Squash New Zealand is committed to developing and supporting squash coaches operating at all levels throughout the country.

Coaches are critical to helping squash players improve and grow their love for the sport. Anyone can become a coach. All you need is a keen interest in the game of squash, the right attitude and a willingness to work with others to learn and build a positive team environment.

What it takes to join the Squash Coaches Network

Step 1: Find

Once you have identified the community of players you want to work with and club you want to coach at, contact your nearest Squash Club or regional District Association to find out what upcoming opportunities exist.

Step 2: Learn

Receive hands-on guidance from certified and experienced coach learning facilitators through our range of coach learning modules to gain the tools and techniques you need to create quality squash sessions every time.

Step 3: Coach

As soon as you have upskilled in the relevant learning modules you can start coaching your own sessions. Congratulations! You are officially part of the 1,100+ strong coaching network that are helping people to Try it. Play it. and Love it. throughout New Zealand.

Step 4: Grow

The learning never stops and the opportunities are endless. Upskill in additional modules, connect at conferences, listen to another coach, observe another coach in action, or have a coach observe you coaching. Continue growing your talents and broaden your horizons coaching different squash programmes.

Keen to join the CoachForce?

Squash New Zealand uses regional CoachForce to facilitate coach development modules and provide coach support opportunities. The Squash CoachForce are usually expert coaches / teachers who are currently active with the community of players in which they assist other coaches with.

Give back to squash and earn additional income by facilitating learning modules and providing on-court and off-court mentoring and shadowing to other coaches. 

Desired Attributes

  • Be currently coaching (or have extensive experience in coaching) the Communities of Players relevant to the learning modules that they deliver.
  • Proactively support and use the national squash programmes (Kiwi Squash, Squash Ignite and Social Slam).
  • Follow the Squash New Zealand Coaching Code of Ethics.
  • Promote the range of national coach development opportunities within their region.
  • Seek continuous professional development where practical.
  • Have excellent communication and administration skills.
