Coaches are critical to helping people fall in love with squash by enabling more people to play, more often and with greater success. Anyone can become a squash coach. All you need is a keen interest in the game of squash, the right attitude and a willingness to work with others to learn and build a positive team environment.

Get Coaching

Step 1: Find

Once you have identified the community of players you want to work with and club you want to coach at, contact your nearest Squash Club or regional District Association to find out what upcoming opportunities exist.

Step 2: Learn

Receive hands-on guidance from certified and experienced CoachForce learning facilitators through our range of coach learning modules to gain the tools and techniques you need to create quality squash sessions every time.

Step 3: Coach

As soon as you have upskilled in the relevant learning modules you can start coaching your own sessions. Congratulations! You are officially part of the 1,100+ strong coaching network that are helping people to Try it. Play it. and Love it. throughout New Zealand.

Purchase our world-class coaching resources (programme manuals and DVDs) to support your training and take your coaching to the next level.

Step 4: Grow

Don't rest there. The learning never stops and the opportunities are endless. Upskill in additional modules, connect at conferences, listen to another coach, observe another coach in action, or have a coach observe you coaching. Continue growing your talents and broaden your horizons coaching different squash programmes.

Step 5: Develop

Join the CoachForce, give back to squash and earn additional income by facilitating coach learning modules and providing on-court and off-court mentoring and shadowing to develop other coaches.

Current rates of pay:

  • $150 per every coach development learning module facilitated
  • $300 per every full squash programme supported
  • $150 per every regional coaching workshop / conference delivered

Advise

Be on the Coaching Advisory Panel and provide advice and input on all coaching matters as per the Squash Coaching Strategy.

Keen to join the CoachForce (and coach the coaches)?

Squash New Zealand uses trained regional CoachForce to facilitate coach development modules and provide coach support opportunities. The Squash CoachForce are usually expert coaches / teachers who are currently active with the community of players in which they assist other coaches with. 

Desired Attributes

  • Be currently coaching (or have extensive experience in coaching) the communities of players relevant to the learning modules that they deliver.
  • Proactively supporting and using the national squash coaching resources (for Kiwi Squash and SquashStart programmes).
  • Following the Squash New Zealand Coaching Code of Ethics.
  • Promoting the range of national coach development opportunities within their community.
  • Seeks continuous professional development where practical.
  • Has excellent communication and administration skills.
