SquashWays Go Three In A Row Whilst SquashGym Claim Mitchell Cup Resized Mitchell Cup 2016 Winners Squash Gym

SquashWays have claimed the Cousins Shield for the third time in a row in convincing style whilst SquashGym Plamerston North have taken out the Mitchell Cup for 2016.

In the final of the Cousins Shield SquashWays were set to have a tough battle against Herne Bay A. Whilst Herne Bay A threw everything they could on the line the SquashWays team looked too strong from the start. Josh Masters, Chris Van Der Salm and Paul Coll all claimed their games in three and they claimed the tie 3-0 and a third consecutive title. Devoy managed to get a win 4-1 over North Shore to take third place. Henderson men took out Lugton Park 3-0 to claim fifth place. Mitchell Park took their win over Thorndon in convincing style with the final match score being 4-0. SquashGym men claimed the Plate over Herne Bay B with it all going down to the final game with the score finishing off 3-2. Remuera claimed 11th position winning 4-0 over Hamilton and Royal Oak and Hawkes Bay battled it out with Royal Oak claiming the win 3-2. Masterton claiming the wooden spoon in the men’s draw.

In the top pool of the Mitchell Cup SquashGym were looking to claim the title taking out the higher seeded North Shore and they did so in convincing style taking a 5-0 win and topping their pool. Remuera and North Shore battled it out for the runner up position in the afternoon with Remuera taking the win 3-2. Royal Oak came fourth overall after topping their pool with a 5-0 win over Tokaroa. Tokaroa and Hamilton competed for the fifth and sixth positions with Tokaroa eventually taking the win 4-1. Devoy took wins over Masterton and Khandallah 4-1 and 5-0 respectively to claim seventh position. Masterton having beaten Khandallah the previous day took eighth place and Khandallah took ninth.
