Marathon Match for the Youngest Kiwi of the Squad

Leo Fatialofa survived a thrilling five set match to earn one last match of the tournament. Leo fought back from 2-0 down to win the third 13-11 and then clinched the match with a nail biting 17-15 win in the fifth set. Anthony Lepper lost in four sets to Darosham Khan (Canada).

Anthony won the first game comfortably however his many five setters in previous matches he couldn’t quite get over the line. His endeavours have helped the team with their seeding for the forthcoming team championships.

Next up the girls Kaitlyn won easily in three against Simona Frevel (Switzerland). Courtney had a harder battle against her Australian opponent Courtney Mather. She won another trans-tasman battle in four sets.

Finally, the last match was an all Kiwi tussle between Winona-Jo Joyce and Annaleise Faint. The match went accordingly to the NZ rankings with Joyce defeating Faint in three sets. Look out for the final days results for the individual championships tomorrow. This will be the last update before the teams event commences on Tuesday.
