Kiwi Squash Pro Makes Semis

A good win overnight for Kiwi squash professional Abbie Palmer at the US$10,000 PSA tournament in Devonport, Tasmania.

 

Seeded sixth for the tournament, Palmer, 20 a member of the New Zealand squash team for the world championship in China in September accounted for third seed Tamika Saxby from Australia who is ranked 58 in the world 11-5, 11-0, 11-1 in just 15 minutes to make the semifinals.

 

Palmer ranked 84th will now take on top seeded Australian veteran Rachael Grinham who is a former world No.1 and multiple gold medallist at Commonwealth Games level. Grinham has a current PSA ranking of 27 and will be a real test for Palmer to see where her game is at ahead of the world champs.

 

It is the third semifinal for Palmer at PSA events this year.
