Kiwi Takes Irish Open Squash Title

New Zealand men’s squash No.2 Campbell Grayson has won the PSA Challenger tournament, the Irish Squash Open in Dublin.

Third seed Grayson defeated seventh seed Mahesh Manaonkar of India in relatively straight forward fashion to take the title which gives him confidence for some big tournaments coming up in the next month.

The Aucklander started strongly winning the first four points of the final and controlling the first game for an 11-6 scoreline with some low risk play.

In the second game he continued with his controlling play although his opponent challenged him more on the scoreboard.

The third set again saw an early lead for the Kiwi at 4-1 however Manngaonkar fought back and equalled scores at 7-all, but it was all in vain for the Indian as Grayson won the next four points in convincing style to take the title with a 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 victory in 45 minutes

Grayson will now prepare for the British Open in Hull, 20-26 May.
