SquashGym Seeks New Manager SquashGym PN

SquashGym Palmerston North is looking to appoint a new General Manager to continue to manage its world class venue and promotion of the Club. Nestled in the heart of Palmerston North city and comprising a venue boasting 8 Squash courts, retail pro shop, a commercial Gym, and a totally refurbished bar and lounge.

SquashGym has been through a few tough years and the committee is looking to appoint a General Manager who can rebuild the club to a stable financial position while creating a fantastic club atmosphere amongst its members and key stakeholders. A new committee has recently been formed to help lead the Club out of the recent difficulties it has been facing. 

The General Manager will be responsible for the four main areas of the Club;

  • Squash,
  • Gym,
  • Retail and
  • Bar operations.

Some of the key responsibilities will be;

  • General Squash administration
  • Marketing and promotions of the Club
  • Attaining new sponsorship
  • Servicing existing sponsors/ partners
  • Produce a yearly plan and applying for Grants/Trust funding
  • Managing and Liaising with Gym Manager to ensure a smooth operation of the Gym
  • Sales management
  • Stock control
  • Hiring, training and managing staff

The successful applicant we seek will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience in:

  • Management
  • Marketing ideally with a sports background.
  • Event Management experience.
  • A tertiary qualification in Business or Management
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with people of all ages and demographics.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Computer literacy, competent in all MS Office applications.
  • Building and fostering professional relationships.
  • A knowledge or passion for Squash would be advantageous to this role.
