World Junior Championships Underway

The World Junior Championships are underway in Eindhoven Netherlands and it has been an exciting few days for all our kiwis competing overseas. 

A positive first day for all the kiwis on court. All have performed creditably. All the girls were excited and nervous today. 

Juee Bhide lost in a very close 5 setter where she played exceptionally well against Madlen O'Connor of Canada. 

Once Nadia Hubbard had settled in to her first match of the day she won comfortably against Felur Maas of the Netherlands. In Nadia's second game she had her chances against the more experienced Indian player Harshit Jawanda but in the end Harshit was too strong. 

Lauren Clarke played exceptionally well today very narrowly losing the first 2 games to Zoe Foo Yuk Han of Malaysia. Lauren showed the effort she has put in this year with many well constructed rally's. 

Luke Jones had a decisive 3 set win against Aishwary Singh of India even playing a nick behind his back off a service powered down the middle of the court. 

Abbie had no problems disposing of Aussie Lauren Aspinal. Ellie had to compete against Christine Christoffersen of Denmark who fiercely contested 1 1/2 games but Ellie found her stride taking out the match 3/0 and she now goes on to play the number 1 ranked Japanese player.
