Canterbury Men have beaten Wellington men in a tense tie whilst the Waikato Women have taken their win over Bay of Plenty in an intense final match.

First on court for the Men's Draw was Sam Atkins and Jonny Barnett. Whilst there were some tough rallies between these two it was Barnetts day and he took the win 3-0 to give Canterbury the early lead. Next on was Evan Williams and Chris Van Der Salm. Whilst Van Der Salm played some great shots Williams managed to edge the win and ultimately the match 3-0 and Wellington levelled the score. Next on was a repeat of the Men's Semi-Finals with Martin Knight and Paul Coll. Knight got off to strong start taking the first game but Coll managed to come back and take the next 3 games and the win for Canterbury giving Canterbury a 2-1 lead. It was all down to the final match between Scott Galloway the newbie to the Wellington Senior Team and Scott Gardiner. Both players managed to score a game each but Galloway claimed the third game and took the lead 2-1. Tensions were high with Canterbury under the impression they had to only get 1 more point at 3-2 in the fourth game to win the match Galloway dug deep and won 9 points in a row and took the match 11-3. There were some tense moments and questions were flying around who would win on a points countback which was equal, but it seemed the calculators were wrong for Canterbury and once Scott Gardiner had got the 3rd point it was all done, the final score was 125 to Wellington and 126 to Canterbury and Canterbury won the competition for the first time.

The Waikato Women managed to defeat the Bay of Plenty Women 3-1. First on court was Emma Millar and Holly Donnelly. Both teams were keen to get off to a strong start for their team and Millar showed great dominance in the front of the court which Donnelly was just not able to match and Millar took the first match of the tie for Waikato. Next on was Jo Shanks and Kylie Lindsay, Lindsay was keen to extend Waikato's lead but Shanks had some different thoughts on that and she started off taking a 2-0 lead, Lindsay however fought back to get the third game, at the time not knowing this would be the difference in Waikato winning the tie in 3. Lindsay eventually went down to Shanks 3-1 in a tough battle for both players. Next on court was Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy. Landers-Murphy would need to get at least a game from King to be able to keep the Bay in the hunt for the title but King wanted to add another title to her mantlepiece and she eventually took the match in 3. This meant no matter what the result in the fourth Waikato had won the tie due to Lindsays single game win in the second match. However Nadine Cull and Camden Te Kani-Mcqueen both stepped on court to show pride for their districts. Cull came out strong and took a 2-0 lead, however Te Kani-McQueen was not going to go down without a fight and managed to level the scores to 2-2, this however fired up Cull and she came out in the fifth to take the game 11-0 and the match in 5.

The other rounds of the day were hard fought between all the teams. In the Men's 7/8 playoff Eastern chalked up their first win 4-0 over the younger Northland team. Waikato also managed a strong win in the 5/6 playoff over Bay of Plenty securing the win in the third and the final scoring being 3-1. Auckland took the win in the 3/4 playoff with Jason Van Der Walt taking the only win of the tie over Sion Wiggin.

In the Women's 5/6 playoff Canterbury wasn't able to use home court advantage today and they went down to the Northland team 4-0. Auckland also managed to take the win over Central 3-1 after Central claimed the first match in the 3/4 playoff.
