National Junior Squads named

The National Junior Selectors have announced the National Junior Squads for the 2015 season.

National Junior Selectors Paul Hornsby, Aileen Buscke and Pat McHugh are delighted to announce that the following players have accepted invitations to participate in national junior squads next year.  Three squads have been selected:

1. Elite Junior Girls
2. Elite Junior Boys
3. Junior Development Squad

Immediately below the Junior Development Squad in the Squash New Zealand player pathway are the Talent Development Centres.  There are four Talent Development Centres around the country, which cater to under 13 and under 11 players and act as a feeder to the Junior Development Squad.  Talent Development Centre squads are selected by each TDC host, in consultation with Districts, and announced early in the new year.  Further information on the Squash NZ High Performance Programme and player pathway can be found here.

The Elite Junior Girls' squad will prepare for the World Junior Teams Championships in Cairo, Egypt from 25 July - 4 August.  A team of four players will be selected to attend this event (although any players - male or female - are able to attend the Championships 'off their own bat').

The Elite Junior Boys' squad will prepare for the 2016 World Junior Teams Championships (dates and venue TBC).

The Junior Development Squad is comprised of younger players (under 17 and under 15) who are likely to be in contention for future World Junior Teams Championships.

All squad members assemble in Auckland for several weekend training camps each year.  Coaching support is provided, as well as strength and conditioning programmes and ongoing mentoring.
