Coll Goes 3 in a Row

The 2016 ILT & CTOS NZ Southern Open PSA final today saw Paul Coll succeed in his mission to win three in a row with win against Tsz Fung Yip of Hong Kong.

Despite Tsz Fung starting strong and taking an early lead in the first set, Coll was determined to earn points and began a focused battle to catch and pass Tsz Fung’s early lead with a straight run of points from 3-6 to take the set 11-6.

Coll maintained his momemntum in the second set and put in a very strong performance, dominating and not allowing Tsz Fung’s efforts to get back into the game.

The third set saw Coll take a quick lead and even match-ball before Tsz Fung decided to push even harder and a very tight battle of wills commenced with both players desperately searching for the set win, and plenty of lets called, Tsz Fung eventually sneaking the set 15-13.

Both players returned to the court clearly tiring but focused and seeking to push each other to the limits. This set saw great energy, athleticism and agility from both Coll and Tsz Fung, along with some great shots as they looked to earn every point. Eventually after a grueling 54 minutes Coll managed to close out the match 11-8.
